LGBT & Mental Health

Introduction
Please note that this course can be delivered anywhere in the UK.

LGBT people are at significantly higher risk than heterosexual people of suicidal feelings, self harm, drug and alcohol misuse and having mental health problems (King M el al 2008, Suicide and deliberate self harm in LGBT people). Basic findings by CSIP have linked poor mental health to the experience of homophobia and bullying.

Aims
Participants will increase their awareness of the issues experienced on a personal, community and institutional level by Lesbians, Gay men, Bisexuals and Transsexual people and communities.

Who is this workshop for?
The workshop is suitable for anyone working or living with LGBT Mental Health Service Users including, mental health/social services social workers, psychotherapists and counsellors, voluntary sector workers, friends and family.
